A Message From Dr. Lisa Semrow, The Middle School Principal and

Curriculum Director

Dear Students and Parents/Guardians,

Welcome back! I hope everyone had a fun summer and that all students are ready for school to begin. The staff at the Brodhead Middle School is dedicated to promoting educational experiences for middle level students by providing the knowledge to foster the development of life-long learners and responsible and caring individuals.
At Brodhead Middle School, we believe the following statement is very important: “Responsibility Teaches Responsibility”.  Simply put, students must be responsible for their actions and respect others while at school. Accordingly, Brodhead Middle School has three rules that we expect everyone in the building to follow at all times:
1) Respect Others. Unkind words and actions will not be tolerated. This includes inappropriate language (foul, abusive, harassing, insulting, vulgar, etc.) and physical aggression (hitting, pushing, shoving, kicking, slapping, etc.).
2) Respect Property. Stealing, vandalism, and other dishonest actions will not be tolerated. Take care of what is yours and show consideration for the belongings of others.
3) Respect the School. Students may not engage in any action that interferes with learning or teaching. Listen to staff members and follow directions the first time they are given.
These simple rules reinforce the school’s main expectation: Teachers must be allowed to teach and students must be allowed to learn in a safe environment. If a student chooses to not follow the rules, he/she will have chosen a consequence.
We have a great school and we want everyone to learn as much as possible. Every student will have the opportunity to work to the best of his/her ability. I encourage parents/guardians to visit school as an important part of our partnership in providing a quality education for your child. Please feel free to stop by and introduce yourself to me and contact your child’s teacher at any time. Communication and working together will lead to a successful school year.
